Designation Programs

BOMI International designation programs are recognized on a national and international level as marks of distinction and excellence throughout the property and facility management industries. Each program offers time-tested courses with a proven curriculum designed by industry experts for property and facility management professionals. Those who complete a designation program gain a deep understanding of how to increase the value of properties and/or operate facilities at peak efficiency, and are able to apply this knowledge to their everyday jobs. 

Learners must complete their designation enrollment within a seven-year period with the option to request a one-year extension. Learners selecting not to complete their credential enrollment within the term will be considered inactive. All active designation learners will be given seven years from January 1, 2020 to complete their current designation program.

Many designation courses have also been approved toward maintaining your LEED, CFM, CPM, CCIM, and many other industry credentials.

RPA Logo   Real Property Administrator—Ideal for those who manage a single building or a portfolio of real estate assets with emphasis on building systems, risk management, brokerage, and enhancing overall financial performance of the asset.
     
FMA Logo   Facilities Management Administrator—Ideal for those who manage a facility from the user’s perspective, either as a tenant or an owner of the facility, where you are responsible for the care, comfort, and productivity of your employees by maintaining building systems, technology, furniture systems, and daily maintenance.
     
SMA Logo   Systems Maintenance Administrator—Ideal for those who manage the people who run building systems. SMAs ensure that the building systems run efficiently, both from an energy use and tenant comfort standpoint, as well maintain all aspects of a building or facility, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and hardware.
     
SMT Logo   Systems Maintenance Technician—Ideal for those who operate and maintain major building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

To enroll in a designation program and register for courses:

1.

Determine which designation program you would like to enroll in.

 
2. From the designation page you selected above, click on a course that you would like to register for. We recommend you review the course details and choose to start with a course that contains content that you are most familiar with.
3. Review the course schedule at the bottom of the course page and decide on an offering you prefer.  
4. Enroll in your program AND register for a course in any of the following ways:
 
  • Online—Click the link in the “To Register” column for the offering you have chosen and proceed to the checkout steps. If you need an invoice, select the “check” payment option when prompted and you will receive an invoice via e-mail.
